Valor Health Experiential Therapy
Experiential Therapy

Some of the deepest work does not happen in a chair.

Experiential therapy uses action and direct experience to reach what verbal therapy alone cannot. Equine therapy, art and music therapy, ropes courses, drama therapy — each creates a doorway into emotional material that bypasses the defenses talk therapy must work through.

When the front door is locked, experiential therapy walks around to the side door.

Section 01

Equine-assisted therapy

Horses are exquisitely attuned to human emotion. Working with them — on the ground, never riding — reveals patterns of avoidance, control, fear, trust and communication that show up immediately. A skilled equine therapist helps you process what the horse just reflected back. Profound, often surprising work.

  • Ground-based, not riding
  • Licensed equine therapist + clinician
  • Reveals relational patterns
  • Builds trust and presence
Creative arts therapy
Section 02

Art & music therapy

Creative expression accesses emotional material that words cannot reach. Our licensed art and music therapists guide structured sessions designed to externalize, explore and integrate. No artistic skill required — the process matters, not the product.

  • Licensed creative therapists
  • Trauma-informed approach
  • Group and individual formats
  • No prior skill required
Outdoor adventure and challenge courses
Section 03

Adventure & ropes course

High and low ropes elements, hikes, outdoor challenges — adventure therapy creates real-world experiences of fear, support, risk and accomplishment. Skilled facilitators help patients connect the experience to recovery insights they take home.

  • Low and high ropes
  • Outdoor challenges
  • Group-based connection
  • Skilled facilitation
Group therapy and psychodrama
Section 04

Drama and psychodrama

Role-play, family sculpting, empty-chair work — psychodrama allows patients to externalize internal conflicts and rehearse new responses to old situations. Often used in our trauma and family programming.

  • Role-play and rehearsal
  • Family sculpting
  • Empty-chair and gestalt techniques
  • Powerful in trauma and family work
